Ring Bolt Hitching

Three lead Ring Bolt Hitching Shown at the left is Ring Bolt Hitching done around a cardboard cylinder. This hitching is done with three leads. Pattern is Left, Right, Left.

Hitching was done on railings on windjammer sailing ships as a method to give the sailor a better grip. So that when the sailor reached for the railing during bad weather, he would have something that would grip in return.

Hitching was done in a variety of ways and different patterns were used. This example is called Ring Bolt Hitching.
